Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about GuitarTechFinder.

For Players

How does GuitarTechFinder work?

Search for verified guitar techs by postcode. Browse profiles, view their services and experience, then submit a quote request directly to one tech or to multiple techs at once. Techs respond with a price, you accept and pay a deposit to confirm the booking.

Is it free to search and request quotes?

Yes — creating an account and requesting quotes is completely free. You only pay when you accept a quote and confirm a booking.

How much does it cost?

Each tech sets their own prices. When you accept a quote, a small platform fee is added on top (5% of the tech's price, minimum £2.50, maximum £25). This is paid by you, not deducted from the tech's payout. A deposit is taken at booking; the balance is paid at collection.

What is a deposit and why do I pay one?

The deposit confirms your booking and protects the tech's time. It's calculated as twice the platform fee. The remainder of the tech's quote is paid when you collect your guitar.

Can I message a tech before booking?

Yes. Once you've submitted a quote request, you can message the tech directly through the platform before you accept their quote. This is a great way to ask questions or clarify the scope of work.

What if there are no techs near me?

You can sign up to be notified the moment a verified tech joins within 20 miles of your postcode. We're actively growing our network of techs across the UK.

Are the techs vetted?

All techs go through a verification process before they can receive quote requests or bookings. Unverified techs appear in search results but are clearly marked as pending — you can only request quotes from verified techs.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, one of the world's leading payment platforms. Your card details are never stored on our servers.

For Techs

How do I join as a tech?

Register for an account and select "I'm a guitar tech". Complete your profile, set your services and travel radius, and submit for verification. Once approved you'll need to connect your Stripe account to receive payments — then you're live.

How much does it cost to list as a tech?

Listing is free. GuitarTechFinder charges a platform fee on each completed booking — this is paid by the player on top of your quoted price, not deducted from your payout. You always receive the full amount you quote.

How do I get paid?

Payments are processed via Stripe Connect. You'll connect your bank account during onboarding. Your share of the deposit is paid out automatically when a booking is confirmed; the balance is paid by the player at collection and transferred to you via Stripe.

Can I set my own prices?

Absolutely. You quote individually for each job based on the work required. There's no fixed pricing — you're in full control of what you charge.

Can I decline a quote request?

Yes. You're never obligated to take on a job. You can decline any quote request that isn't right for you.

What happens if a player doesn't collect their guitar?

The deposit paid at booking protects your time. If you have concerns about a specific situation, contact us at contact@guitartechfinder.com and we'll help resolve it.

Can I pause or hide my profile?

Yes. From your profile settings you can toggle your availability — this hides you from search results when you're not taking on new work.
